Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was a German writer and polymath who said, “Behavior is a mirror in which every one displays his own image.”  I think it would be more accurate to say:  “Behavior is the mirror in which every one else sees our image."

With deference to Herr Goethe, I do not believe that we all see our behavior as clearly as others do.  When we look in the mirror we only see ourselves vaguely (1 Corinthians 13:12).

But, as the verse continues and intimates, it is only with the insight that comes from God that we can come face to face with who we really are and then begin to see ourselves as others do and more importantly as God does.
